Exercise programs are often developed in response to goals that pertain to physical adaptations, such as weight loss, mobility, balance, hypertrophy, performance, and more. However, rehab professionals are now faced with a new challenge; addressing the epidemic of cognitive decline and accelerated brain aging. There is a paucity of solutions on how to efficiently add cognitive tasks to motor tasks in a domain-specific and individualized manner. In addition, while research continues to demonstrate the value of cognitively-enhanced modalities, such as exergaming, every-day clinical applications remain challenging. This session will aim to identify how these gaps can be filled, and allow health and fitness professionals to apply dual-tasks in a domain-specific and calculated manner.
